Texas was forged by the efforts of hard unyielding men…few were more influential in the shaping of the Lone Star State’s future than James “Buck” Barry. 

According to the chain of title, Buck homesteaded this place back in 1851, even though he didn’t move his family here till 1855. In his book, which is a collection of reminiscences, he tells stories of hunting deer, bear, black panthers, and even occasional buffalo in the mid to late 1850s on and near his Bosque County home. Barry died in 1906 and is buried in the family cemetery on the ranch.

This 911± acre property has been a favorite of American figures like Barry, Chris Kyle, and other National dignitaries for many years. It is rich in historical value, hay production, natural wildlife habitat and the clear running waters of both Bosque and East Bosque Rivers. With over 110’ of natural elevation, the ranch features some of the finest early morning foggy water views in the region. Soils range from tillable sandy loam river bottoms to rocky shale. Hardwood cover is scattered and diverse with many live oaks reaching100+ year status.

Among the century-old live oaks where Indians and buffalo were once common, the rich Texas ground is now home to a full-service, world-class horse training facility featuring a 125’x 250’ covered roping arena with attached center block stalls, covered pipe runs and adjoining outdoor lighted roping arena. There is also a stone 4BR main house along the water’s edge, multiple no-climb fencing pastures for horses, a manager’s house with dedicated highway access, multiple tanks with mature bass, riding trails, shooting range, enclosed insulated bus parking, newly built shop, storage, gated entrance and much more.
